This is a sad time for me as my father died this time last year. However, three months after that I managed to gain full funding for the last 7 months of his life, just before it was going to the final review stage, the SHA meeting. It can be done, but you must arm yourself with all the medical facts before any appeals.

Good Luck to you all next year. Have a very happy Christmas.

I'm sorry for your loss, and especially as it happened at Xmas, but this limited period full funding business is a very common ploy, and there is no other word for it.

They give a little, and then do not hand over all - it is morally wrong.

You should have full funding for ALL the time your father spent in nursing home due to health needs. You may not feel up to that, and that is very understandable, but as I have said time and time again, this is what the Health Authorities play on, and it is disgusting, and I have categorised it as emotional blackmail.

Have a think about this over the holiday period, and possibly start fighting again. It is a pain, I know, but as I have said of others in a similar position to yourself, they are insulting you, and insulting your father. They simply do not care -it is the pounds and pence they are watching.

A seasonal cockle warming message to FinnMickey from Victoria Meldrew

Such kind words from you, FM, could move mountains. That you should remember my forthcoming birthday is comfort enough, especially from one as young and innocent as you, for someone as old and not-so-innocent as me. E'en tho' your own d.o.b. is concealed behind a veil, I will consult my cache, so that I might be empowered to send similar greetings to you at some time in the near future. If my cache fails me, I'll still be thinking of you as you age, day by day by day, in the same way that most of us mere mortals age.

Could your message be the first sign of the gradual emergence of an entente cordiale?

If so, I am sure that it will contribute enormously to the seasonal goodwill that is supposed to arrive at this time of year.

That seasonal goodwill is for all forum members, not just FM and VM, so let's raise a glass to all of them!!

I could wax lyrical - but it may embarrass you, FM. So unless permission arrives from you 'twixt now and the start of 2012, I will perhaps refrain.

Meanwhile, may the season of goodwill continue to open your heart, to warm your cockles, and to invite you to continue with your cheerfulness.
