The end of the line...

Wed 18 Jan 2012 - 19:10 by starlightblue

Having originally told me they were going to investigate my mother's case, The Ombudsman has now done an about turn and told me they are not going to investigate any of it.

They told me that they had employed their own clinical nurse assessor to check if the NF guidelines had been adhered to. This person said those guidelines were adhered to - and despite 11 pages of hard evidence submitted to the contrary - all completely ignored by this person, the Omb. has now said they will not even be investigating. So it seems the Omb. investigation now follows an identical pattern to the IRP - except you cannot be there.

I have been told by a solicitor that I am now out of time for judicial review so that's it. I'm disappointed to say the least, but having had a few days to get my head round it I'm now somewhat relieved.

In comparison with a great many of you, my involvement with this nightmare has been short.I now no longer have to deal with it and selfishly, I now just want my life back.

When the money runs out, which is soon, and social services start paying in full, I will not be co-operating with helping them fight the NHS for the funding that is so clearly the NHS responsibility. I will not be attending any more meetings and they can just get on with it. As my mum deteriorates and her health needs increase, it will be down to SS to fight their own battle if they can even be bothered - and at every opportunity I will be needling them with that.

My mum's health, happiness and stability are, and always have been paramount to me and will continue to be so. She is now settled and happier than she has been in a long time and is in a good nursing home. I feel comfortable in the knowledge that I have done everything I can for her but it's now time for me to draw a line under this particular battle.

In the time spent fighting for NHS funding I've learnt some lessons too - including never to give money to strangers who contact you via this website saying they will represent you and who do little more than send a few letters.

Thank you to everyone for your support and helpful answers to my many questions, and good luck to those of you still fighting.
